2008 Marketing Awards
Eligibility and Forms
   

The submission deadline for the 2008 Marketing Awards was May 30, so GSCA is no longer accepting entries. We will notify members of the 2009 entry requirements early next year.








 BEST FILM LAUNCH BY A THEATER

GSCA’s Best Film Launch by a Theater is given for the best launch of an individual giant screen film by a theater in its giant screen theater between May 1, 2006, and April 30, 2008. Entries will be solicited from the GSCA membership.

  • Entries must be associated with a giant screen film per the following eligibility criteria: "To be eligible, films must have been:  a) produced in their original form specifically for giant screen theaters; and b) premiered in giant screen theaters before being released identically or in some variation for other types of presentation formats."

  • Criteria below set by the awards subcommittee will guide the judging:
    1. Summary of the marketing plan, goals, and objectives. (25 percent)
    2. The methods of execution with samples of advertising, publicity articles, promotions, sponsorship, and collateral materials. (40 percent)
    3. The evaluation of results based on goals and objectives and how the results were measured. (35 percent)
    4. Budget for the campaign will also be considered.
  • Entries must be received by May 30.                 
  • All languages are eligible.
  • Each entry must be accompanied with a $50 (USD) payment.  Make checks payable in USD to the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA).
  • All entries must be submitted electronically on CD. Please do not send your submission on a DVD. Send GSCA a total of eight CDs. Each CD should contain one copy of your complete award entry. GSCA will distribute CDs to the judges, one CD will remain at the GSCA office as a master copy of your entry, and one copy will be sent to the awards gala producer. Hard-copy submissions will not be accepted. A PowerPoint template is included here for your entry. You may use it as it appears or customize it to fit your needs.   • Entries must be shipped via some traceable means such as UPS, Federal Express, or Registered Mail and must be prepaid.  Collect or COD shipments will not be accepted. Entrants located outside the United States must assume responsibility for clearing entries through US and/or other customs fees. GSCA is not liable for lost or damaged entries.

  • Entries will be judged by your marketing colleagues in the giant screen cinema business and other marketing professionals.

The author of the entry may sign a disclaimer that duplication can be used for information only and cannot be printed or used for advertising or for any marketing activities of any kind without the written permission from the author.


BEST MARKETING CAMPAIGN BY A DISTRIBUTOR

The Best Film Distributor’s Marketing Award is given for the best marketing package designed and produced by the film distributor to accompany the launch of a giant screen film released between May 1, 2007–April 30, 2008. Entries will be solicited from distributors within the GSCA membership.

  • Entries must be associated with a giant screen film per the following eligibility criteria: "To be eligible, films must have been:  a) produced in their original form specifically for giant screen theaters; and b) premiered in giant screen theaters before being released identically or in some variation for other types of presentation formats."

  • Criteria below set by the awards subcommittee will guide the judging:
    1. Summary of goals and thoroughness of contents. (15 percent)
    2. Usefulness of materials. (35 percent)
    3. Creativity and quality of materials (available to theaters) with samples of advertising, press kits, collateral and printed materials, educational materials, manager’s kit, or any other materials. (40 percent)
    4. Value-added marketing support for extra efforts in providing local, regional, or international support will get bonus points.
  • Each GSCA member distributor can enter as many times as they would like.
  • Entries must be received by May 30.
  • All languages are eligible.

BIG IDEAS AWARD


Recognition is given for the most original and effective idea of a single marketing promotional idea, publicity stunt, or unusual marketing activity. All entries in all categories will be automatically entered into this category.

  • Conditions listed above for marketing awards apply to the Big Idea Award.
  • Big Ideas may also be submitted independently of the other marketing awards.
  • Entries must be received by May 30.     
  • Big Ideas will be recognized at the Annual International Conference and Trade Show and on the GSCA website.
  • All entries must be submitted electronically on CD. Please do not send your submission on a DVD. Send GSCA a total of eight CDs. Each CD should contain one copy of your complete award entry.
