The Data After Tomorrow
Presenter: Daniel Rapo, FotoKem
Many digital processes are automated, and fast, but moving 6 terabytes of data from point A to B still takes time. Without proper planning, that process can repeat on an endless--and costly--loop as you fulfill all of your post-1570 release deliverables. But the right strategy can make this daunting challenge surprisingly manageable.
Kodak Vision3 500T Color Negative Film
Presenter: Bev Pasterczyk, Kodak
Vision3 500T film gives filmmakers more control and flexibility in every phase of the filmmaking process--from capture through post, in both digital and traditional workflows.
From Location to Theater: A Look at Creating Soundtracks for Pulse: A Stomp Odyssey and Wild Ocean
Presenter: Mike Roberts, Yes/No Productions, and Brian Eimer, ImagesInSound
This case study will reveal some of the challenges and special techniques used to capture the most location sound ever used in a giant screen film. We'll talk about the creation of the sound design for each film and the careful balance between music and SFX to create an uplifting audience experience.
Getting the Most out of 4K
Presenter: Andrew Oran, FotoKem
The 65mm/15p frame delivers in excess of 70 million pixels worth of resolution. How is it that 4K digital images--capped at around 12 million pixels of data--can look good, even great, on giant-sized screens? We'll explore how 65mm origination and over-sampling help pixel challenged imagery play above its game.
3D to the Max: Bubbles
Presenter: Greg MacGillivray, MacGillivray Freeman Films
For Grand Canyon Adventure: River At Risk 3D, MacGillivray Freeman Films designed an elaborate opening sequence which became a huge hit and has generated strong word-of-mouth and attendance. How was this successful sequence accomplished?
2D to 3D Update
Presenter: Rick Gordon, RPG Productions
Creative and technical issues in conversion to 3D for the giant screen, with on-screen demonstration of techniques and problem solving.
