Attend the Symposium on September 8, 2008
In 1999 the groundbreaking symposium Giant Screen Films and Lifelong Learning changed the way we think about giant screen films, leading to industry awards recognizing the best in educational filmmaking, an emphasis on research and evaluation for film development, a greater openness in film development industry-wide, and a focus on the promotion of learning outcomes from the films.
In 2008 you can help move the giant screen industry forward by participating in the NSF-funded one-day symposium, The Greater Potential of Giant Screen Experiences: Connecting Science with Society. Scheduled for September 8, just ahead of the Giant Screen Cinema Association's International Conference and Trade Show, this one-day symposium aims to extend the value of the 1999 symposium through:
- An increased focus on science in giant screen films and more effective filmmaking,
- Grounding the conceptualization and production of giant screen films in research on science communication and other allied areas of inquiry,
- Strengthening the connection between science and lifelong learning in giant screen films by incorporating best practices in science communication,
- And, in consequence, to augment interest, spark insight, and stimulate action in science-and-society matters among viewers in the almost 200 US theaters and 270 international theaters.
Be a part of the dialogue by registering to participate in this symposium.
Registration for the Symposium is limited to the first 125 registrants.
