Helping You Be Successful in the Giant Screen Industry
The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is a vibrant international organization devoted to advancing the business of producing and presenting educational giant screen and immersive cinema experiences globally. GSCA’s network includes more than 260 member organizations from over 30 countries representing theaters, producers, distributors, manufacturers, suppliers and others in the industry.
Members build strong business relationships, alliances, and partnerships in the giant screen marketplace to the benefit of everyone in the industry. These relationships are cultivated in person at the highly attended and content-rich industry events and online via our website, Facebook page, Twitter feed, and LinkedIn group. Members also benefit from a variety of membership discounts and access to members-only portions of the GSCA website.
The Film Expo and the International Conference and Trade Show
Attending events organized by the GSCA is the best way to be continuously involved in the giant screen marketplace. Twice each year the association hosts major events in which the industry comes together to see film, share best practices, meet with colleagues, and celebrate success. It is the most significant way to be engaged in the industry:
GSCA events are the marketplace for developing partnerships, negotiating film deals, and uncovering job opportunities.

Bigger. Bolder. Better.® and GSCA's Certified Giant Screen® Program
GSCA developed Bigger. Bolder. Better.® to differentiate the giant screen experience and support theater members in their efforts to communicate and market that differentiation. The program is available to GSCA theater members in good standing (i.e. dues have been paid) whose theaters qualify for GSCA’s Certified Giant Screen® designation. More information about the program can be found here: Certified Giant Screen Program
- Audience Research
In 2014 the GSCA conducted an in-depth study of more than 5,000 theater-goers from 36 venues in 12 countries to gain information on them and gauge their thoughts on the giant screen industry, theater experience, film content, and more. Topline findings were delivered at the 2014 GSCA International Conference in Toronto and the final results were released in October 2014.
- Theater Programming Survey
GSCA surveyed giant screen theaters to capture attitudes regarding various types of content they have programmed in the recent past and plan to program in the near future. Producers and distributors can use the results to get up-to-date insights about their theater customers, and theaters can see how their profiles and perspectives compare to their peers.
- Dome Theater Survey
In February 2014, Paul Fraser of Blaze Digital Cinema Works, with cooperation from IMERSA and GSCA, conducted a survey of dome theaters. The survey had two goals: 1) capture the similarities and differences between the world's larger permanent fulldome theaters and the giant screen film dome theaters, and 2) to better understand the potential for convergence of these two sectors.
Theater Attendance Reporting
Access cumulative reports that contain theater data averages as a whole or based on particular criteria. This program allows theaters to confidentially input monthly theater attendance on a secured area of the GSCA website. This ongoing statistical analysis allows participating theaters to access and review reliable trends for theater attendance in a secure environment for benchmarking and internal reporting.
- Research Task Force
GSCA's Research Task Force has multiple research projects in the works, including surveys to better understand the intention and use of the the ancillary materials produced for giant screen films (e.g., websites, teacher guides, etc.) from the perspective of both producers/filmmakers and exhibitors/theaters.
