July 28, 2010--The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce the winners of its annual marketing awards, which celebrate the best execution of ideas in promoting giant screen films and theaters. The awards will be given at the Achievement Awards Presentation, sponsored by Technicolor, on Saturday, September 25, at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, Tennessee, during the GSCA 2010 International Conference and Trade Show.
June 17, 2010--We are pleased to announce we have retained Susan Ritchie of Susan Ritchie Communications. Susan will assist in launching the "Bigger. Bolder. Better." marketing initiative. This initiative will provide a certification program and tools to help members differentiate qualified giant screen theaters in their marketplaces. We expect it to help improve business results for members, and encourage production of original giant screen films.
April 30, 2010--The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) requests proposals from individuals/consultants to help the Association launch its newly adopted giant screen “Bigger. Bolder. Better.” marketing initiative. The initiative will use a series of tools, including a tag phrase and certification program, to help giant screen theaters differentiate themselves from other theaters and entertainment options.
March 31, 2010--Gretchen Jaspering has resigned as president of GSCA effective March 31, 2010, to pursue other opportunities. She had held the position since 2004. Gretchen states that it has been her pleasure working with so many of you these past five years. Seeing the world through your films and in your theaters has been a great experience for her. March 3, 2010--The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) today announced that The Wildest Dream: Conquest of Everest, distributed by National Geographic Entertainment, received the People’s Choice Award at the association’s 2010 Film Expo held at the IMAX Theatre @ The Bridge in Los Angeles, CA, in late February. The winner was determined by Film Expo delegates, who voted for their favorite film among the six new films that were presented during the event.
February 11, 2010--The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) announced the results of its 2010 board of directors election today. Eleven new directors—eight elected and three appointed—will begin serving their two-year terms at the upcoming GSCA Film Expo being held in Los Angeles, CA, on February 23-24. March 9, 2009--The Giant Screen Cinema Association elected seven members to two-year terms that start March 16, at the association's Film Expo. Taking seats on the board are: Jonathan Barker, SK Films; Mark Bretherton, World's Biggest Screens; Diane Carlson, Pacific Science Center; Mike Lutz, MacGillivray Freeman Films; Andrew Oran, Fotokem; Phil Streather, Principal Large Format; and Andy Wood, Giant Screen Films.
September 15, 2008—The 2008 Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) presented its 2008 Achievement Awards at the GSCA International Conference and Trade Show Awards Gala in Jersey City, New Jersey, on September 10, 2008. August 7, 2008--IMAX Corporation today reported that it recorded a net loss per diluted share of $0.29 for the second quarter of fiscal 2008, compared to a net loss of $0.11 per diluted share for the second quarter of fiscal 2007. At the same time, the company announced that the rollout of its IMAX Digital system technology launched as scheduled, with the successful delivery and installation of its first three digital projection systems at three AMC Entertainment, Inc. theaters located in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area, during the second quarter.
