June 22, 2009--CineMec XL kicks off this summer season with a special themed day-program, “Experience the Sea in 3D,” with special premieres of 3D digitally produced documentary films appealing to the whole family. Through deals closed with nWave Studios and 3D Entertainment Distribution, CineMec XL has secured exclusive rights for the Dutch-speaking Benelux in order to execute their strategic plans for 3D distribution. The themed program consists of the breathtaking ocean experiences Dolphins and Whales: Tribes of the Ocean, Ocean Wonderland, Sharks, and Monsters from the Deep. These films have already proven to be a huge success abroad: Dolphins and Whales achieved 47,000 visitors in the first two weeks in Germany, making it the biggest opening of a 3D documentary film ever. These internationally acclaimed underwater films can be experienced daily during the summer season in CineMec XL. In the evenings CineMec XL will be showing current blockbuster films such as Ice Age 3D and Transformers 3D: Revenge of the Fallen. Also screening will be the re-launch of the successful documentary U2 3D (coinciding with the concert in the Amsterdam Arena on July 20 and 21, 2009), and the new Harry Potter release. In the autumn the programming will be supplemented with other unique major screen events, such as transmitting live Opera from the Metropolitan New York via satellite feeds in High Definition onto the big screen, and performances from The Royal Ballet Company in London. Gerben Kuipers, CEO and owner of CineMec and CineMec XL is proud to be the first Dutch exhibitor to bring exclusive 3D entertainment films such as Dolphins and Whales and Sharks to the large screen in Holland. “The state-of-the-art technical equipment and quality film product in our new cinema will ensure our visitors a world-class experience.”
