July 26, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment today announced that the highly anticipated 3D action-adventure, The Amazing Spider-Man, will be released to IMAX® theaters simultaneously with the film's worldwide release on July 3, 2012. To date, the Spider-Man motion picture franchise has generated more than $2.5 billion in worldwide box office receipts. The last two installments of the franchise were also released in IMAX.
July 22, 2011-- IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures have announced that the global thriller Contagion, from Academy Award®-winning director Steven Soderbergh, will be released to digital IMAX® theaters worldwide day-and-date with the film's traditional release, starting September 9, 2011.
July 19, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2, the final installment of the blockbuster film series based on the beloved books by J.K. Rowling, surpassed opening weekend IMAX® box office records globally by generating $23.2 million of the film's record-setting estimated worldwide gross of more than $481 million, for an IMAX per-screen average of $59,000. Opening-weekend domestic records were broken as well, with IMAX bringing in $15.2 million of the movie's $169 million of total box office, or approximately $55,500 per screen.
July 15, 2011--IMAX Corporation and AMC Entertainment Inc. (AMC), today announced an expansion of the companies' joint revenue sharing arrangement to include the installation of 10 additional IMAX® theaters in the United States. These theaters, which fulfill the rollout of theaters under the June 2010 expansion of the parties' original 2007 joint revenue sharing agreement, are expected to open by the end of 2012. The 10 new IMAX theater systems are in addition to AMC's existing obligation for 115 IMAX joint revenue sharing theaters, 105 of which are currently in operation.
July 14, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Regal Entertainment Group today announced that under a previously agreed-upon arrangement, the companies will expand their joint revenue sharing arrangement to install an additional nine IMAX(R) theaters in the United States, bringing the number of theaters under the agreement to 25 from 16. Locations for these nine additional theaters have now been identified, with the parties working to finalize all necessary theater approvals.

Rowling, will open in a record number of IMAX® theaters day-and-date starting July 13 in several international markets and domestically this Friday, July 15. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2: An IMAX 3D Experience marks the largest release for the company, with a total of 423 global theaters confirmed to date. The film will open in 395 IMAX locations as of this weekend—which includes a record 274 IMAX® theaters domestically—with the additional runs debuting over the following four weeks.
