Eagle Eye: The IMAX Experience Opens in 84 Theaters on September 26

September 24, 2008--IMAX Corporation and DreamWorks Pictures have announced that the new action thriller, Eagle Eye, will open domestically on September 26, 2008, in 84 IMAX theaters, including 14 new IMAX digital theaters, in conjunction with the film's nationwide release. The film will also open in 13 IMAX theaters internationally throughout the coming weeks starting on September 25. Eagle Eye has been digitally re-mastered with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.

September 8, 2008--IMAX Corporation and DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. today announced that the IMAX release of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa has been extended to include the Thanksgiving holiday, and will now run into December. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa will be digitally re-mastered with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology and play for a full run in IMAX theaters, including select new IMAX Digital theaters, which began rolling out this summer.

IMAX Adds The Day the Earth Stood Still to the 2008 Film Slate

September 8, 2008--IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that The Day the Earth Stood Still, directed by Scott Dickerson and starring Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, John Cleese and Jaden Smith, will be simultaneously released to both IMAX and conventional theaters on December 12, 2008. The film, which is a remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film about an alien visitor and his giant robot counterpart who visit Earth, will be digitally re-mastered with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.

The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience Crosses $55 Million Mark

September 5, 2008--IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience has crossed the $55 million mark in worldwide gross box office receipts after its seventh week of release. As of Friday, the film reached a total of $43.2 million from 101 IMAX screens domestically and $12 million from 41 IMAX screens internationally.

August 27, 2008--3D Entertainment Distribution is pleased to announce that IMAX industry veteran Patricia Brandino has joined the company in the newly created position of Vice President, Film Sales. Effective September 7, Brandino will be responsible for theatrical sales of the company’s current and future film catalogue in North America, including Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Dolphins and Whales 3D released domestically at IMAX 3D theaters earlier this year. Nikki Lowry Joins National Geographic Cinema Ventures as Director of Film Marketing and Outreach

August 26, 2008—Nikki Lowry has joined National Geographic Cinema Ventures (NGCV) as director of film marketing and outreach. She will manage all marketing efforts for NGCV’s giant screen, 3D and specialty films and will support National Geographic Entertainment's feature film releases while working to enhance relationships between NGCV and theaters worldwide. Additionally, Lowry will oversee all educational outreach for films and will support NGCV’s sponsorship and foundation relationships. She reports to Mark Katz, NGCV’s president of distribution, and is based at National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C.
