GSCA Presents Its 2011 Achievement Awards

September 21, 2011—The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) presented its annual Achievement Awards tonight at the GSCA International Conference and Trade Show, hosted by the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, Texas. The awards, sponsored by Technicolor, are given each year to recognize excellence in filmmaking and marketing in the giant screen cinema industry. The following awards were presented:

Best Film Produced for the Giant Screen and Best Film for Lifelong Learning

Born to be Wild, IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures

IMAX Melbourne Museum for its launch of Born to be Wild

The GSCA film awards are determined by a vote of GSCA members, and marketing awards are determined by a jury of industry marketing experts and past award winners.

IMAX Corporation also presented its Maximum Image Awards at the GSCA event. Two films were inducted into the IMAX Hall of Fame: Mysteries of Egypt and Titanica. The Hall of Fame award honors a film that is at least 10 years old and is voted on by the IMAX theater network. The Pathé IMAX, Eindhoven in The Netherlands was presented the Best Booth Award for a digital theater, and Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida, was presented Best Booth Award for a film-based theater.

The awards were followed by a special screening of the 2010 IMAX Hall of Fame winner, Rolling Stones: At the Max. Director and Cinematographer David Douglas, Associate Producer and Editor Toni Myers, Production Manager Diane Roberts and Post Production Supervisor David Keighley.
