March 8, 2012—IMAX Corporation and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures today announced that John Carter, the action adventure film from Academy® Award-winner Andrew Stanton, will be released in the immersive IMAX® 3D format on Friday, March 9. Based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs and starring Taylor Kitsch, Willem Dafoe, and Lynn Collins, the film will open in 290 IMAX® theaters domestically, simultaneous with the film’s North American wide release. The movie will also open in 194 IMAX® theaters internationally, 115 of which will open on Friday, March 9, with the additional runs debuting over following weeks. Additional playdates will be added as pending bookings are confirmed.
