January 14, 2010--IMAX Corporation, Marvel Entertainment, and Paramount Pictures today announced that Iron Man 2, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey, Jr., will be released to digital IMAX theaters simultaneously with the film's worldwide release on May 7, 2010. Iron Man 2, the sequel to Marvel's Iron Man, will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.
Associate Professor Lim Tit Meng, 49, from the Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore, will be appointed as the Chief Executive of the Science Centre Singapore with effect from 16 January 2010. He will take over from Dr. Chew Tuan Chiong, 52, who will be moving on to pursue other interests.
January 13, 2010--Warner Bros. Pictures Inc. and IMAX Corporation today announced that three-time Academy-Award nominee Leonardo DiCaprio will narrate Hubble 3D. The latest IMAX 3D film from the award-winning team behind Space Station 3D and other successful IMAX space films, led by producer/director Toni Myers, is scheduled for release to IMAX theaters beginning March 19, 2010. Hubble 3D will combine awe-inspiring IMAX 3D footage shot in space with breathtaking, never-before-seen 3D flights through Hubble imagery from the Orion Nebula to the far reaches of the cosmos. The film is the fourth IMAX 3D co-production between the two companies.

January 7, 2010--IMAX today announced that it is developing its first IMAX 3D digital camera. IMAX expects its first prototype to be ready by early 2010, with the goal of an official launch in 2011. The new IMAX 3D camera is planned to be a component of a suite of IMAX-branded products and services available to studios, partners, and filmmakers for use in production of premium 3D content.
January 5, 2010—The IMAX Theatre at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec, will be closed January 4-February 28, 2010, as it upgrades its theater with an IMAX 3D projection system, as well as a new sound system, screen, and seats. The theater will reopen in March. When it first opened in June 1989, it was the first theater in the world to combine the IMAX screen and the IMAX dome in the same room. Upon completion of the changes, it will be the only IMAX theater in North America to present 3D films on the IMAX screen and 2D films on the dome.

January 4, 2010--IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that James Cameron's Avatar continued its record-breaking box office run over its third weekend, grossing approximately $8.7 million from 179 IMAX theaters domestically from January 1 through January 3, 2010. The film registered more than 12 percent of the film's total domestic gross of $68.3 million during that period on less than 3 percent of the screens, driving the domestic IMAX box office to date to approximately $47.1 million.
January 4, 2010--IMAX Corporation today announced that for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2009, IMAX DMR gross box office worldwide reached the $100 million milestone, a first for the company and an approximate 225 percent increase over last year's fourth quarter box office of approximately $31 million. Fourth quarter DMR gross box office results include the approximate $54 million generated from Twentieth Century Fox's Avatar: An IMAX 3D Experience. DMR gross box office of Hollywood DMR titles shown in the worldwide IMAX network increased 108 percent to a record $270 million compared to $130 million in fiscal 2008.
December 28, 2009--IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that James Cameron's Avatar continued its record-breaking box office run during its second weekend, grossing approximately $8.8 million from 179 IMAX theaters domestically from December 25 through December 27, 2009, registering approximately 12 percent of the film's total domestic gross of $75.6 million on less than 3 percent of the screens. IMAX theaters continued to operate at virtually full capacity all weekend, driving the domestic IMAX box office to date to approximately $28 million.
