June 18, 2012—IMAX Corporation today announced an agreement with Caspian Capital Limited to open an IMAX® theater in Azerbaijan, marking IMAX's entry into the country. The theater will be installed in the capital city of Baku into a new construction project slated to open in October 2012. Today's agreement brings to 50 the total number of IMAX theaters open or contracted to open in Russia and the CIS.  

June 15, 2012—IMAX Corporation announced it has signed agreements to open a total of three IMAX® theater systems into new construction projects across Russia. The company will install one system each with existing partner Kinomax as well as new partners Monitor and People's Cinema, bringing to 49 the total number of IMAX theaters open or contracted to open in Russia and the CIS.  

June 18, 2012—IMAX Corporation and Nongken Bona Film Investment Co. Ltd. (Nongken Bona), a subsidiary of Bona Film Group, have announced an agreement for an IMAX® theater to be located in the Nongken Bona International Cineplex in Tianjin, China, which is scheduled to open in September 2012. The agreement brings to 226 the total number of IMAX theaters open or contracted to open in Greater China, 92 of which are currently open.

June 13, 2012—IMAX Corporation and Lionsgate, a leading diversified global entertainment company, today announced that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the second film in the wildly popular franchise, will be released in the immersive IMAX® format on November 22, 2013.

June 13, 2012—IMAX Corporation and Paramount Pictures Corporation, a unit of Viacom Inc., today announced that the sequel to J.J. Abrams' 2009 blockbuster Star Trek will be released in the immersive IMAX® 3D format on May 17, 2013. The film represents the second feature in the ground-breaking franchise to be released in IMAX following Star Trek, which grossed more than $375 million at the worldwide box office.

June 12, 2012—IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures have announced that New Line Cinema's Rock of Ages, based on the hit Broadway musical, will be released in the immersive IMAX format for a limited engagement in select IMAX ® theaters worldwide. Domestically, the film will open in select IMAX locations day-and-date with the film's wide release on June 15, 2012. Directed by Adam Shankman, the film stars Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige and Catherine Zeta-Jones, with Alec Baldwin, and Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx.

June 11, 2012—Tickets are now on sale for the IMAX release of The Dark Knight Rises, the third film of the critically acclaimed trilogy that introduces Gotham City's newest super villains, Bane and leading lady Selina Kyle. Director Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated epic conclusion hits IMAX theaters worldwide day-and-date with the traditional release on July 20.

June 7, 2012—IMAX Corporation and Omnijoi Cinema Development Co., Ltd. (Omnijoi Cinemas), formerly known as Jiangsu Eudemonia Blue Ocean Cinema Development Co., Ltd., today announced an agreement to install five IMAX® theater systems into new construction projects throughout China. This agreement follows the earlier eight-theater cooperation and brings Omnijoi Cinemas' total IMAX commitment to 13 theaters, which includes a theater currently open in the city of Suzhou and another that is slated to open in the city of Nanjing, Zhejiang Province in July. Today's deal brings the total number of IMAX theaters open or contracted to open in Greater China to 225, 92 of which are currently open.

June 6, 2012—IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that Prometheus, director Ridley Scott's original mythology that tips its hat to elements of the original Alien, will release in the immersive IMAX® 3D format in 421 IMAX® theaters worldwide. Domestically, the film will be released in 298 theaters beginning Friday, June 8, simultaneous with the film's North American release. Internationally, the film debuted in select territories last week and will be expanding to additional theaters through the coming weeks for a total of 123 theatres confirmed to date. Additional playdates will be added as pending bookings are confirmed.
