3D Entertainment Distribution Unveils Air Racers 3D at GSCA Conference

September 27, 2011--3D Entertainment Distribution hosted the IMAX industry premiere of Air Racers 3D on September 20 during the Giant Screen Cinema Association’s Annual Conference at the Texas State History Museum IMAX Theater in Austin. The film takes audiences into Nevada's "Valley of Speed" for a spectacular exploration of the fastest motorsport in the world: the legendary Reno National Championship Air Races. It marks the first time in the event’s 48-year history that a film on the Air Races has been produced entirely in 3D.

Cineplex to Add Two New IMAX Digital Systems

September 27, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Cineplex Entertainment have announced an agreement to install two new digital IMAX® theater systems, to be located in London, Ontario, at SilverCity London Cinemas, and in Victoria, British Columbia, at SilverCity Victoria Cinemas. Both theaters are slated to open in December 2011. This agreement follows an earlier deal between the two companies for three new IMAX theaters, announced in May 2011, and brings Cineplex's total commitment to 14 IMAX theaters to be in operation by year-end 2011.

Sony Pictures' Underworld Awakening to Be Released in IMAX Digital 3D

September 26, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that Underworld Awakening, the fourth installment in the popular supernatural-action franchise produced by Lakeshore Entertainment along with creator Len Wiseman, will be released to IMAX® digital theaters simultaneously with the film's worldwide release Jan. 20, 2012. The latest chapter in the Underworld saga marks the return of Kate Beckinsale in the title role of Selene and is the first of the series to be filmed in 3D and released in IMAX.

Sony Pictures Entertainment to Release Men in Black 3 in IMAX 3D

September 26, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that the action comedy Men in Black 3 will be released to IMAX® theaters simultaneously with the film's worldwide release on May 25, 2012. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Men in Black 3 is the first in the franchise to be released in IMAX.

GSCA Presents Its 2011 Achievement Awards

The awards, sponsored by Technicolor, are given each year to recognize excellence in filmmaking and marketing in the giant screen cinema industry.
