September 27, 2011--3D Entertainment Distribution hosted the IMAX industry premiere of Air Racers 3D on September 20 during the Giant Screen Cinema Association’s Annual Conference at the Texas State History Museum IMAX Theater in Austin. The film takes audiences into Nevada's "Valley of Speed" for a spectacular exploration of the fastest motorsport in the world: the legendary Reno National Championship Air Races. It marks the first time in the event’s 48-year history that a film on the Air Races has been produced entirely in 3D. 

September 27, 2011--Museum cinema integration pioneer D3D Cinema has teamed with Moody Gardens and Barco to host an unprecedented and exclusive preview of next-generation digital projection technology, providing a glimpse into the future of the movie going experience. The event will take place January 9-10, 2012 at the 2nd Annual Moody Gardens Digital Cinema Symposium in Galveston, TX, on the 80-foot MG3D Theater screen.

September 27, 2011--IMAX Corporation and MacGillivray Freeman Films (MFF) today announced their intention to form a long-term content alliance. The companies also said they are exploring a broader alliance that may include marketing, distribution and co-financing efforts to support institutional IMAX exhibitors with a steady flow of the highest-quality large-format documentaries.

September 27, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Cineplex Entertainment have announced an agreement to install two new digital IMAX® theater systems, to be located in London, Ontario, at SilverCity London Cinemas, and in Victoria, British Columbia, at SilverCity Victoria Cinemas. Both theaters are slated to open in December 2011. This agreement follows an earlier deal between the two companies for three new IMAX theaters, announced in May 2011, and brings Cineplex's total commitment to 14 IMAX theaters to be in operation by year-end 2011.

September 26, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that Underworld Awakening, the fourth installment in the popular supernatural-action franchise produced by Lakeshore Entertainment along with creator Len Wiseman, will be released to IMAX® digital theaters simultaneously with the film's worldwide release Jan. 20, 2012. The latest chapter in the Underworld saga marks the return of Kate Beckinsale in the title role of Selene and is the first of the series to be filmed in 3D and released in IMAX.

September 26, 2011--IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that the action comedy Men in Black 3 will be released to IMAX® theaters simultaneously with the film's worldwide release on May 25, 2012. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Men in Black 3 is the first in the franchise to be released in IMAX.

September 26, 2011--The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Gretchen Faust Jaspering as its Executive Director, effective October 10, 2011.
