August 14, 2014—The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce that MacGillivray Freeman Films is a premier-level sponsor of the GSCA 2014 International Conference and Trade Show, which is being held September 20-23, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

MacGillivray Freeman’s generous support as a premier sponsor includes hosting an all-delegate reception to be held on Sunday, September 21, at the Scotia Bank IMAX Theatre in Toronto. The evening will feature a fine-cut screening presented in IMAX digital of the upcoming MacGillivray Freeman Films release Humpback Whales, which will be released internationally to giant-screen theatres on February 13, 2015.

The GSCA conference is the largest gathering of educational giant screen and immersive cinema professionals. This year’s event is being held at the Ontario Science Centre and the Scotia Bank IMAX Theatre in Toronto.

”We look forward to sharing a fine cut of our new film Humpback Whales, which was shot primarily in the highest quality 15/70 format, as we know anticipation for the film is high,” says Bob Harman, MFF Director of Distribution. “We are always proud to support the GSCA and we look forward to participating in another stimulating industry conference.”

“We are excited to have MacGillivray Freeman Films, a longtime and generous supporter of GSCA, as a premier sponsor of this year’s conference,” says GSCA Executive Director Tammy Seldon. “The reception will be a wonderful opportunity for the industry to see an early screening of this beautiful film and network with industry colleagues.”

MacGillivray Freeman’s Humpback Whales is the incredible story of nature’s most fascinating marine mammal. Captured for the first time with IMAX 3D cameras, the mysterious world of the humpback comes alive in breathtaking detail as audiences experience how they communicate, sing, feed, play and take care of their young. Found in every ocean on Earth, humpbacks were nearly driven to extinction 50 years ago, but today they are steadily recovering. Join a team of researchers in Alaska, Hawaii and the Kingdom of Tonga as they attempt to unlock the secrets of the humpback—and celebrate the return of these giants of the sea.

The GSCA 2014 International Conference is the industry’s leading event, including presentations of new films, films in production, and projects in development; professional development sessions addressing exhibition, marketing, and filmmaking; a technical session on the latest developments in laser projection, cinematography, and 3D capture; and the giant screen industry’s only trade show.
