Film Description | African Voices is to be a pan-African, “made for the Giant Screen”, documentary film about community, wildlife and environment across Africa. 10 storytellers from 10 different countries will each make a 3-5 minute uplifting sequence on a subject about which they are passionate. Elephants and fisher-people co-existing in Savo, Kenya; community land ownership and a bird photography project for the Makuleke people in the Kruger National Park, South Africa; the indigenous knowledge of the rainforest inhabitants in Gabon, helping global medical research. Together, these sequences will form a whole; a new and positive vision of Africa where, for the first time on the Giant Screen, local African people will share their own authentic stories with the world. A ground breaking and timely film, written, directed, photographed, edited and scored by local African filmmakers. |

Film Description | Black holes, the big bang, space that can bend and ripple. So much of our understanding of the cosmos comes from Albert Einstein’s radical ideas about gravity. Designed and conceived for the largest screens in our galaxy, Einstein’s Incredible Universe takes audiences on a spellbinding journey through space and time, as well as into Einstein’s imagination during some of his most famous “thought experiments.” The film tells the stories of two contemporary astrophysicists, Andrea Ghez (2020 Nobel-laureate) and Nergis Mavalvala (Dean of Science at MIT), who were inspired by Einstein growing up and are now building on his theories in ways that would have astonished even him. With major funding from the National Science Foundation, 'Einstein’s Incredible Universe' will launch alongside a robust educational outreach campaign. |

Film Description | Carlos Guana is a charismatic nature cinematographer, specialising in filming great white sharks from drones, who has 10s of millions of YouTube views for his fascinating videos of shark behaviour.
A year ago something magical happened. Just off the Californian coast, Carlos films what could be the first new-born great white shark. His footage makes headline news around the world and the paper he publishes, with marine biologist Phil Stearns, impresses leading scientists. Carlos thinks he has discovered a clue to the holy grail of great white shark science – their birthing grounds. But he still needs more proof. This film follows Carlos as he embarks on a mission using hi-spec drones, and specially built underwater drones, in search of more photographic evidence of pregnant females and baby sharks. If successful, Carlos hopes he can persuade lawmakers to create a new shark sanctuary in these precious waters. It’s a film full of spectacular new behaviour, fascinating revelations and a compelling human story. Come with us on the citizen science adventure of a lifetime. |

Film Description | India’s Wild takes audiences on a journey through the soul of India, its wildlife and festivals. Stories of tigers, panthers, elephants, rhinos, monkeys, bears, birds, insects and reptiles, captured by expert Indian camera people. The film is written and directed by National Geographic Explorer, and Indian natural history star, Sandesh Kadur.
As well as being incredibly diverse India is also the world’s most populous country and the 8th most densely populated. Animals in India live closer to humans than in most countries, setting up interesting dynamics, such as between leopards and the Rabari tribe, who see it as their spiritual duty to live along-side the leopards. But, it also sets up dangerous conflicts. Such as with the villagers of Sundarbans who are terrified by tigers and the farmers whose crops are threatened by elephants. How do these wild animals that call India home survive alongside their 1.4 billion human neighbours? |

Film Description | Red Pandas – perhaps the world’s cutest animals – are in trouble. Poaching for the pet trade has driven them to endangered status.
On the India-Nepal border there’s reason for hope. 40 years ago, the forests here were virtually empty. But in that time an innovative breeding program has increased the wild population from nearly zero to around 60. Zoos from around the world provided captive bred animals, strengthening the gene pool, and now the grandchildren of those zoo pandas are returning to the wild. Years of dedication are finally paying off. This autumn saw a landmark event when 2 cubs were released at once. We filmed their first steps and will follow their first season in their new home. This film interweaves two intimate journeys - the cubs and the staff who raised them. We’ll see these beautiful forests through their eyes and learn their hopes for the future. |

Film Description | Linking Imperial Rome and ancient China the Silk Road was once the greatest thoroughfare on Earth. It was the international highway that drove human progress for centuries. It connected peoples and cultures and along it travelled precious cargoes of silk, gold and gems, as well as ideas and technologies. But, while much has been made of the start and end points of the Silk Road, the middle stretches of this global artery are still little-known.
Secrets of the Silk Road immerses audiences in a crucial hidden corner of the Silk Road, over some of the most adventurous and dramatic landscapes, to learn precisely how and why people navigated the foothills of the Caucasus in historic times. With incredible access to treasures in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Secrets of the Silk Road showcases not only these historic wonders, but the daily life of those who still walk this stunning path today. |
