Solarmax

Chronicling the quest for knowledge about Earth's closest star, Solarmax takes audiences on a journey from the first known solar explorers at Newgrange, Ireland, more than 5300 years ago up to today's cutting edge solar exploration. Audiences see the sun through the x-ray eyes of the TRACE satellite and through spectacular real-time images taken from SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory).

The title refers to the 11-year cycle of maximum solar activity, in which sunspots, solar flares, and other phenomena are more frequent and more intense.

Genre
Astronomy, Documentary, Space

Awards
Best Soundtrack Album, Australian Guild of Screen Composers, 2001.
