January 20, 2020—London's Science Museum is adding the IMAX with Laser system alongside its IMAX 17/50 film projector, making it one of only two screens in Europe to feature digital and analogue cinema side by side. The museum's IMAX theatre will close for renovations on February 2, 2020, and reopen this summer. Read the full press release here.

January 17, 2020—Cosmic Picture is proud to announce it will distribute
America’s Arctic, the upcoming giant screen documentary from Terra Mater Factual Studios.
America’s Arctic
is written and directed by veteran IMAX producer Myles Connolly and the
award-winning nature photographer and cinematographer Florian Schulz. The film will premiere the fall of 2020.

January 16, 2020—The China
Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) warmly invites producers and distributors
to submit films for the “Science & Technology” section of the 10
th
Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), which will be held in Beijing on
April 19-26, 2020. The festival is ratified by the Chinese Government and
hosted by China Film Administration, People’s Government of Beijing
Municipality, and China Media Group. Films must be submitted by February 15, 2020.

January 10, 2020—“Strange structures have been erupting in different parts of
the world. These may be the cinemas of the future.” This 1991 episode of
The
Nature of Things, a Canadian television series, documents the
history of IMAX and includes fascinating interviews with Graeme Ferguson, Robert
Kerr, Bill Shaw, and Roman Kroitor.

January 9, 2020—The Science Center of Iowa has announced the IMAX theater may never reopen after flooding caused the popular attraction to close in June 2018. The Science Center has been battling with its insurance company to get a settlement for more than $3 million in damages. Read more

Apollo 11 has been shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Final nominations will be announced on Monday, January 13, 2020.

January 8, 2020—IMAX has inked a partnership with Vindex, an esports infrastructure startup formed by Major League Gaming co-founders Mike Sepso and Sundance DiGiovanni, under which Vindex will create esports events and experiences exclusively for IMAX theaters worldwide.
