October 17, 2018—IMAX Corp. has announced the appointment of Megan
Colligan to President, IMAX Entertainment and Executive Vice
President, IMAX Corporation. Reporting to Rich Gelfond, CEO of IMAX
Corp., Colligan's appointment will be effective February 19, 2019,
immediately following a consulting period. The Company and Greg Foster also announced that,
as has been anticipated, Foster will exit from his role as CEO, IMAX
Entertainment and Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp., when
his current contract concludes at the end of the year.
Thomas Wyss Joins Destination Cinema to Relaunch Film Distribution
October 16, 2018—Bob Perkins, President and CEO of Destination
Cinema, Inc. (DCI), is pleased to announce that Thomas Wyss has joined the team
as an advisor. Wyss, a giant screen industry veteran, will be guiding the
distribution of the company’s existing library of films and advising on new
opportunities.
October 16, 2018—Lynn
McCroskey, founder of Sonics, the company that originated the IMAX sound system
and manufactured the audio hardware for IMAX theaters worldwide, passed away on
September 22 in Birmingham, Alabama. His dear friend and colleague Alvis Wales
delivered the following memorial at the McWane Science Center in Birmingham during
GSCA’s Dome Day presentation on September 24. Our sincere condolences to
Lynn’s family, friends, and colleagues.
