November 22, 2017—IMAX Corp. has
awarded $5,000 grants each to five U.S. high school film programs as part of
its broader effort to educate students about key environmental and societal
issues impacting the world and to inspire them to become advocates for change
through filmmaking. Each student film program has been challenged to create
inspiring documentaries to further IMAX's commitment to drive awareness of the
global issues outlined in the United Nations' Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs).
November 21, 2017—The newly renovated Rangos Theater, which has been closed since July, opened November 17. This state-of-the-art theater located inside the Carnegie Science Center
on Pittsburgh's North Side offers a 70-foot giant screen, two
industry-leading Christie laser-illuminated 4K laser digital projectors
and a premium Dolby Atmos multichannel surround sound system with 45
speakers. “With this technology we can offer everything,” says Chad Hunter
director of The Rangos Giant Cinema. “It is truly giant–and
officially a certified giant screen by Giant Screen Cinema Association.

November 17, 2018—GSCA is pleased to announce the results of the 2018 Board of Directors election. The following candidates will join the board for a two-year term beginning on January 1, 2018.
The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce the dates and locations for the association’s 2018 events. The 2018 Film Expo will be hosted by the Pacific Science Center and Boeing IMAX Theater in Seattle, Washington, on March 12-13. The Film Expo will feature screenings of new giant screen films, films in production, and projects in development. The Westin Seattle will serve as the official Film Expo hotel. The GSCA 2018 International Conference and Trade Show will be hosted by the Tennessee Aquarium and IMAX 3D Theater in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on September 21-23, with the Westin Chattanooga serving as the official conference hotel. On September 24, the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama, will host screenings in the IMAX Dome Theater.
