September 30, 2104—Acclaimed filmmaker Werner Herzog is directing a 3D IMAX film called
Volcano. Produced by Spring Films and Werner Herzog Film, the project is one of the first to be partially financed through the recently established IMAX Original Film Fund, a US$50million fund for IMAX-exclusive docs.

September 29, 2014—In a dramatic rebuke of the traditional theatrical release, Netflix and The Weinstein Co. have signed a deal to release the sequel to Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon simultaneously on Netflix and in select IMAX theaters around the world. September 29, 2014—The National Media Museum and Picturehouse Cinemas today announced that they will be entering into a commercial cinema partnership from the 31st October 2014. The new partnership—Picturehouse at National Media Museum—will see Picturehouse taking over the operation of the three screens at the Museum—the 300-seat Pictureville (which Lord Puttnam described as "The best cinema in the world"), the 100-seat Cubby Broccoli Cinema and Europe’s first IMAX screen.

September 20, 2014—The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce the winners of its 2014 Achievement Awards, which recognize excellence in giant screen filmmaking, marketing, and lifelong learning. The awards were announced the evening of September 20 at the opening reception of the GSCA 2014 International Conference and Trade Show at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto.

September 19, 2014—IMAX Corporation and SMI Corporation Limited, a leading Chinese entertainment and media company that operates theatres under the name Stellar Cinemas, have announced an expansion of the parties' revenue sharing arrangement with the addition of four new IMAX
® theatres in China. The deal brings the exhibitor's total IMAX commitment to 11 theatres.

September 18, 2014—Famous ocean explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau will be presenting the industry premiere of his first film for IMAX® theaters and giant screen cinemas,
Secret Ocean 3D, at the annual Giant Screen Cinema Association conference in Toronto (ON) this Sunday, September 21, 2014. Directed by Jean-Michel Cousteau, the 40-minute documentary will allow audiences to discover the ocean as never before. It is slated for release worldwide in 3D and 2D beginning in March 2015.

Sept. 18, 2014—BBC Earth and Giant Screen Films are proud to announce that the BBC Earth’s first two giant screen releases will be showcased at the GSCA conference in Toronto this weekend. The two films,
Walking with Dinosaurs: Prehistoric Planet 3D and
