December 17, 2014—Craig Mince has worked at the IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum for 13 years, spending the last six as the theater manager. “I heard about the IMAX sales and marketing manager position through my then-girlfriend/now-wife,” Mince remembered. “I made it through the first round of interviews and was scheduled to meet the regional manager at IMAX when 9/11 occurred.” Read the full article at IndyStar.com here.

December 16, 2014—3D Entertainment Distribution announced today that renowned oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle will narrate the upcoming giant screen film Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Secret Ocean, directed by Jean-Michel Cousteau and produced by Ocean Futures Society and 3D Entertainment Films. The 40-minute underwater documentary explores the ocean as never before. It is slated for a staggered release worldwide in 3D and 2D, 15-perf/70-mm film and digital formats beginning in March 2015.

December 15, 2014—MacGillivray Freeman Films (MFF) today announced that two-time Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor will narrate Humpback Whales, an underwater 3D adventure documentary for IMAX and other giant screen theaters directed by two-time Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Greg MacGillivray (The Living Sea, Dolphins, Everest). The film, presented in association with Pacific Life, will be released beginning February 13, 2015.
December 15, 2014—National Geographic Studios has acquired the global theatrical rights to the film Living in the Age of Airplanes, which takes audiences on an epic journey through 18 countries and across all 7 continents as it presents a unique perspective on how the airplane has changed the world. It will be available to 15/70 flat and dome film screens and to all digital screens when it is released worldwide on April 10, 2015.
December 15, 2014—Experienced giant screen/IMAX film production house December Media and specialist natural history filming company BioPixel are pleased to announce that they have finalized an agreement to develop and produce three 3D Giant Screen/IMAX films.

December 4, 2014—Awarded a $1.5 M grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), CADENS (Centrality of Advanced Digitally ENabled Science) will produce 12 science documentaries: three ultra-high-resolution fulldome shows designed for specialized, immersive dome theaters found in museums and planetariums, and nine high-definition programs for broadcast and online formats. The first in the series will be ‘Solar Superstorms,’ produced for fulldome theaters and rolling out in early 2015. CADENS has issued a call for participation, seeking research and data visualizations from the supercomputing, arts, science and education communities, with a deadline of Dec. 21, 2014.
