announces the industry's first 8K, 48 Megapixel, 4:3 aspect ratio, large format
digital cinema camera system. The system is specifically designed for IMAX and
giant screen cinema films striving to achieve the highest image quality and
immersive visual experience.
April 19, 2018—The China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) has partnered with Evans & Sutherland (E&S) to provide visitors the opportunity to experience China’s first permanent True8K™ laser giant screen digital dome, which replaces a 1570 film system. Beijing’s CSTM has the largest planetarium and digital giant screen dome system in China.

5, 2018—The new Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium at Liberty Science Center in
Jersey City, New Jersey, is the largest and most technologically advanced
planetarium in the Western Hemisphere, thanks to Digistar 6, a groundbreaking True8K™
display system, and a NanoSeam dome. The theater represents the state-of-the-art digital projection
technology and scientific visualization from Evans & Sutherland (E&S) and
seamless dome screen technology from Spitz.
April 28, 2017—The newly renovated Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium at the Liberty Science Center is the world's largest IMAX dome theater (27-meter diameter) and will soon have the world's largest digital giant screen dome system with a True8K™ Digistar 6 system from Evans & Sutherland (E&S). This will be the world's first True8K giant screen digital dome, replacing a 1570 film system. The theater will open with the new system this fall.
March 9, 2017—In November 2016, at an ice-covered lake on Antarctica more than 100 kilometers away from the nearest station, a film crew from NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation, together with five scientists, embarked on an extraordinary challenge. Taking three days, they bored a hole three meters across in the thick surface ice and started dives to capture the underwater world with 8K UHD cameras. This unique, precious time capsule of Earth's history will be presented for the first time ever in stunningly high-resolution video images when NHK premieres the 8K film at the Future Park in the North Hall at NAB on April 22-27 in Las Vegas.
