July 13, 2022—Christie® is pleased to share that its RGB pure laser projectors are lighting up the recently refurbished Infinity Dome theatre at TELUS Spark Science Centre in Calgary, Alberta. The dome stands three stories high and 21 meters (69 feet) across, making it one of the largest dome theatres in western Canada, and one of the brightest in North America with eight Christie Griffyn™ 4K32-RGB pure laser projectors delivering 272,000 lumens. RSA Cosmos–Konica Minolta, global leader in digital planetariums, in partnership with Solotech, global leader in audiovisual and entertainment technology, specified and installed the new digital system.
July 8, 2022—We shared news in May that the Royal BC Museum in Victoria, British Columbia, would be closing on September 6 of this year as the province invested in building a new facility that was to open in 2030. After strong backlash to the costly and controversial plan, Premier John Horgan has pledged to consult with the public to determine how to proceed. May 16, 2022—The Royal BC Museum in Victoria, British Columbia, will close its doors on September 6, 2022, as the province makes a historic $789 million investment to build a safer, more inclusive, and accessible modern facility. The modernized provincial museum is expected to open in 2030 and will reflect the experiences and perspectives of all who contributed to B.C.’s history. BC Archives services will not be disrupted and will remain open at the downtown site until it moves to its new permanent home at the collections and research building in 2025. IMAX Victoria, the museum’s gift shop, and the food trucks located at the museum will stay open through early 2023.
