anuary 12, 2023—It is with great sadness we share the news that Kathleen Kempf, wife of Don Kempf (Giant Screen Films/D3D Cinema), passed away on December 14 at the age of 55 after a four-year battle with breast cancer. Kathy was loving and devoted mother of Jack, Tommy, and Hank Kempf. She was also CFO at Giant Screen Films/D3D Cinema. Kathy attended a number of GSCA conferences before Jack, Tommy, and Hank were born and participated on the GSCA study trip to China in 2008.

February 17, 2022—D3D Cinema is proud to announce that the Denver Museum
of Nature & Science will upgrade and replace their existing IMAX
Digital system with a state-of-the-art laser-illuminated 4K 3D
projection system designed and integrated by D3D. The new projection and
sound systems will serve as the cornerstone in a generational upgrade
of the giant-screen theater in Phipps Auditorium, which will also
include a renovation of the seating and other public areas of the
theater. D3D will be integrating Barco's latest high-efficiency 40,000-lumen
laser projectors with a premium QSC surround-sound system, MDI
high-gain projection screen, a capable Crestron-based
alternative-content suite and an enhanced accessibility package. The
newly upgraded theater is scheduled to open to the public in Fall 2022.
January 6, 2022—D3D Cinema, in partnership with Christie®, is proud to announce that the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (MOST)
in Syracuse, New York, has selected D3D to provide a generational
transformation of MOST’s Giant Dome theater with the installation of a
stunning second generation (Gen 2) laser-illuminated, ultra
high-resolution Laser CineDome projection system. The theater is
scheduled to reopen in February 2022 after a complete renovation,
including new seating, flooring, lighting and an impressive new NanoSeam dome surface.

October 27, 2021—The
Birdly experience, the latest in VR technology combined with motion simulation, opened at Telus Spark Science Centre in Calgary
this week, with great coverage on local news. Birdly is a full-body virtual reality bird flight simulator coupling robotics and simulation technology. D3D Cinema is the official distributor for Birdly throughout North America for special attractions and public nonprofit institutions such as museums, zoos, aquariums, science centers, etc., and produces content for the attraction as well.

July 15, 2020—D3D Cinema is excited to announce the launch of its
StreamKit suite of digital streaming solutions, enabling live and
pre-recorded transmission of theatrical and floor programs to remote
audiences—amplifying reach and engagement to home viewers,
home-learners, remote classrooms and overflow/distancing spaces.
November 26, 2019—D3D Cinema (D3D) is proud to announce that
the New England Aquarium in Boston, Massachusetts, has selected D3D to
install a new state-of-the-art, laser-illuminated, 4K, 3D, premium
cinema system into its Matthew and Marcia Simons Theatre (the “Simons
Theatre”) in January 2020.
September 16, 2019—D3D Cinema has
partnered with Imagination Station on the design and integration of the new
KeyBank Discovery Theater, a premium giant screen venue that will offer the
first laser-illuminated, large-format immersive cinema experience in the Toledo
market. The theater is the anchor attraction in an 8,200-square foot,
$10M addition to the science center, incorporating immersive film engagement
into the science center’s hands-on lifelong learning mission. The new
building and cinema—complete with gift shop and concessions—will open in summer
2020.

April 5, 2019—D3D Cinema, in partnership
with Christie®, is proud to announce that the Exploreum Science Center (ESC) in
Mobile, Alabama, has selected D3D to install its stunning new second generation
(Gen 2) laser-illuminated, ultra high-resolution Laser CineDome projection
system into their Giant Dome theater.

March 9, 2019—Building on the success of the
acclaimed Laser CineDome platform, D3D Cinema and Christie are pleased
to
announce the groundbreaking next generation upgrade–Gen2–featuring
Christie’s new D4K40-RGB pure laser projectors. The Laser CineDome
solution
premiered in late 2016 as a premium giant dome projection platform,
designed to
replace film-based 70mm theater systems in museums and science centers.
The Gen2 option will be available in Q2 2019 and will be offered to
giant dome
theaters at a price point lower than the Gen1 version.

D3D Cinema is pleased to announce that 2018 marks its
tenth anniversary. A pilot offshoot of large-format film producer/distributor
Giant Screen Films in its earliest days, D3D has boldly and dramatically
altered the landscape of the museum cinema business over the course of just a
decade. The company now boasts over 75 giant screen and museum cinema
installations, with an estimated $80 million in market impact, as measured in
incremental box office revenues and operational savings.
