unveils its Experience Center which houses a 20-meter diameter immersive
8K LED dome to be used in science, education, theme parks, attractions,
sports and entertainment venues.
Sept. 16, 2020, SALT LAKE CITY—Evans & Sutherland recently completed
the installation of Europe’s first ESX projection system at Omniversum,
a 300-seat Giant Dome Cinema in The Hague. The ESX digital display
replaces an existing 15/70 film projector with a multi-projector system
utilizing RGB laser projection.
December 4, 2019—The Saint Louis Science Center reopened the newly renovated OMNIMAX Theater on Friday, November 29, after undergoing a four-month, comprehensive update, the largest since the theater opened in 1991. The renovated OMNIMAX Theater is just one of four domes in the world featuring IMAX with Laser.
October 16, 2019—The Science Museum of Minnesota's Omnitheater reopens this weekend after a 10-week closure to convert to the IMAX laser projection system for domes, making it the third theater in the world to do so. Click to read the full Minneapolis Star Tribune

August 2, 2019—The Saint Louis Science Center’s OMNIMAX Theater will close July 29-late November to undertake
its largest renovation since it was built in 1991, converting the film
projection system to IMAX’s next-generation laser technology designed

May 2, 2019—Evans & Sutherland (E&S), the
inventor of computer graphics and the digital dome, announces DomeX: a
revolution in dome cinema display technology. DomeX incorporates LEDs directly
into the dome surface, turning it into an active video display.
April 5, 2019—D3D Cinema, in partnership
with Christie®, is proud to announce that the Exploreum Science Center (ESC) in
Mobile, Alabama, has selected D3D to install its stunning new second generation
(Gen 2) laser-illuminated, ultra high-resolution Laser CineDome projection
system into their Giant Dome theater.
March 9, 2019—Building on the success of the
acclaimed Laser CineDome platform, D3D Cinema and Christie are pleased
announce the groundbreaking next generation upgrade–Gen2–featuring
Christie’s new D4K40-RGB pure laser projectors. The Laser CineDome
premiered in late 2016 as a premium giant dome projection platform,
replace film-based 70mm theater systems in museums and science centers.
The Gen2 option will be available in Q2 2019 and will be offered to
theaters at a price point lower than the Gen1 version.
November 16, 2018—Cincinnati Museum Center's Union Terminal $224 million restoration will be unveiled to the public this weekend, but the upgrades to the 85-year-old building won’t be coming to an end just yet. Innovation opened the world’s first IMAX® Dome Theater featuring IMAX with
