“Filmed In IMAX” program, a new partnership with the world’s leading
camera manufacturers to meet filmmaker demand for The IMAX Experience®.
Through the program, IMAX will certify high-end, best-in-class digital
cameras with leading brands including ARRI, Panavision, RED Digital
Cinema and Sony to work in the IMAX® format when paired with its
proprietary post-production process. Top Gun: Maverick
, shot with Sony’s VENICE, and Dune
, shot with the ARRI ALEXA LF, will be among the first releases certified as “Filmed in IMAX” through the new program.

July 15, 2020—IMAX is getting ready for a post-pandemic cinematic boom. In an interview with Forbes
, Bruce Markoe, head of post-production at IMAX, said that his department is now operating at nearly pre-pandemic levels, and in July will be working to prepare nearly 200 versions of its movies.
June 18, 2020—Today, IMAX Corporation
announced that several titles from its celebrated catalog of critically
acclaimed, eye-opening documentary films will be available to stream
exclusively on Hulu in the U.S. beginning this summer, kicking off with A Beautiful Planet
and more. In total, at least 16 IMAX® documentaries will roll out on
Hulu over the next several weeks and months, with over four decades of
the most powerful and daring explorations humankind has ever embarked
upon becoming available for subscribers and their families.

May 7, 2020—From The Verge.com: Movie theaters across the country are closed, but some drive-ins are seeing a resurgence in the wake of social distancing practices. Now, Tribeca Enterprises (the company behind the Tribeca Film Festival), IMAX, and AT&T are partnering to bring a summer movie series to as many drive-in theaters as possible in the US. The series will use IMAX’s digital remastering process to enhance both the image and sound quality of the films that play in drive-in theaters. Read the full article here.
January 20, 2020—London's Science Museum is adding the IMAX with Laser system alongside its IMAX 17/50 film projector, making it one of only two screens in Europe to feature digital and analogue cinema side by side. The museum's IMAX theatre will close for renovations on February 2, 2020, and reopen this summer. Read the full press release here.
