July 28, 2022—Paul Wild, former theater director of IMAX Victoria, has joined the K2 Studios distribution team taking over responsibility for most of recently retired Ed Capelle’s theaters in the U.S. and Canada, as well as other select theaters. Paul is contracting part-time with K2 while he continues to represent Destination Cinema on a part-time basis.
May 15, 2022—K2 Studios has announced that industry veteran Ed
Capelle will retire this year after 35 years in the giant screen
industry, the last 20 of which were as VP of Distribution for K2.
January 10, 2022—The world premiere of “Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia” film and exhibition debuts at the California Science Center on February 16, 2022. Through 120 original artifacts—half on tour outside Cambodia for the first time—and hands-on exhibits, guests will use the lens of science to explore the ancient empire of Angkor. The film, distributed by K2 Studios, is a visually stunning epic adventure where science, mystery, and ancient civilization intersect.
August 25, 2020 —The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce that K2 Studios is supporting GSCA Virtual 2020: Imagine, Engage, Energize as a partner-level sponsor, which is the highest level of sponsorship. GSCA Virtual 2020 will be held September 22–24.
July 2, 2020— MGM Television is cementing its move into premium factual programming with a new partnership with IMAX/giant screen documentary producer and distributor K2 Studios. The Hollywood studio will co-produce eight premium documentary TV series with K2, which specializes in producing nature, wildlife, science and adventure programming.
June 23, 2020—Lea Silver at IMAX Victoria
goes behind the scenes of Sea Lions: Life by a Whisker with Director Amelia McCarten. The new film is a K2 Studios
release of a Definition Films Production.
May 1, 2020—Sam Neill, best known for his work on the Jurassic Park films, now lends his voice as the narrator of
