June 12, 2020—The director's cut of MacGilivray Freeman's documentary Everest
will be released in 2021. The original film is the highest-grossing giant screen documentary of all time, earning more than $152 million in worldwide ticket sales. The director’s cut will feature exclusive new footage and will be digitally remastered in 16k for an 8k digital release. MacGillivray Freeman is using the same film scanner that was custom-made for the filmmakers of Apollo 1
1 to digitize NASA’s 70mm archival footage from its mission to the moon.

May 6, 2019—Great Barrier Reef
was recently awarded “Best Creativity Film” in the
Science and Technology category of the Beijing International Film Festival, which
is held at the China Science and Technology Museum. The film was produced by December Media
, which also handles Asia/Pacific distribution, and is globally distributed by
MacGillivray Freeman Films.
December 11, 2018—Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds has signed on to narrate Great Bear Rainforest, set in one of the planet’s most exquisite and secluded wildernesses. The main title theme for the film will be composed by the legendary Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, with the score being composed by Anže Rozman for Bleeding Fingers Music, produced by Russell Emanuel. The film is distributed by MacGillivray Freeman Films and will be released in select IMAX and giant screen theatres beginning February 15, 2019.
November 20, 2018—SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment is partnering with MacGillivray Freeman Films to deliver three exclusive new flying films in 2019 for the Vertical 4D Experience™, SimEx-Iwerks’ latest theater attraction that simulates the sensation of flying. Flying Across America will be available this spring, followed by the summer release of Flying Around The World and a fall release of Flying Wild. Each film will be exclusively distributed by SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment. SimEx-Iwerks and MacGillivray Freeman will also collaborate in producing custom Vertical 4D Experiences.
February 19, 2018—America’s Musical Journey, the new 3D documentary for IMAX® and giant screen theaters, held its world premieres on Thursday, February 15, at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and Friday, February 16, at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. The movie opened globally on Friday, February 16, in select IMAX® and giant screen theatres with a roll out expansion planned throughout the year through the Fall of 2018 and beyond.

America’s Musical Journey, the
newest 3D documentary for IMAX® and giant screen theatres. America’s Musical Journey, produced in association with Brand USA
and presented by Expedia, will be opening in select museums and institutions beginning
February 16. The film celebrates the rich cultural diversity of America as seen
through the story of its music.
August 21, 2017—The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation held the grand opening of the new, state-of-the-art giant-screen Medal of Honor Theater at the National Museum of the Marine Corps and premiered their new signature film, We, The Marines, on July 22. The theater and film opened on July 23 at 10:00am.
