Theater Disinfection Products and Technologies for COVID and Beyond

Whether currently opened or making plans to re-open, theaters everywhere have had to consider a plethora of new health and safety protocols, many of which have been implemented. Adopting a holistic, “healthy building” approach appears to be the new normal, and the search for the best practices and products continues. In this webinar, we’ll focus on a few new products and technologies (based on old science) that are being used in interior public spaces, such as theaters, to effectively disinfect the air and surfaces. An audience Q&A session will follow these presentations:

  • Christie’s CounterAct® Far-UVC light fixtures
  • Air Force One (Commercial/Industrial Mechanical Contractor) and COSI Columbus discussion on PHI in-duct IAQ technology, now installed in COSI’s HVAC system
  • Cineplex Entertainment’s disinfection products used for high-touch areas across their 164-theater circuit.

It Takes a Museum: Discovery Place's Award-Winning Year of the Engineer Program

In 2018, Discovery Place in Charlotte, North Carolina, partnered with 250 STEM leaders to provide 2,500 experiences to expose 250,000 guests to the wonders of STEM. It all started with a rough-cut screening of the film Dream Big, which sparked the idea to not just show the film but to have a “year of the engineer,” with all forms of programming centered around engineering. In this webinar, you'll learn how Discovery Place's divisions all worked together to create this award-winning program and how you can apply the same principles to develop your own programs to extend giant screen learning and enhance the visitor experience.

Secrets of GSCA Membership

In this webinar, find out where to access the demographics of a giant screen movie-goer, what it takes to become a Certified Giant Screen™, and guidelines for giant screen production. PR 101: Launching a Film Using Featured Talent

Looking for a creative way to launch a new film? Two GSCA member museums share tips on using featured talent to launch a giant screen film.

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science made the star of their Extreme Weather 3D marketing campaign an object instead of a person—The Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV). The TIV, dropped off by filmmaker Sean Casey, rolled up to the museum to much fanfare and was positioned in front of the museum for three weeks. Maura O’Neal, DMNS’s Communications and Media Relations Manager, shares highlights from the campaign and how their TIV social media campaign garnered the greatest organic reach and engagement of any other post to their page, resulting in the film performing 28 percent stronger than their average IMAX film attendance.

For IMAX Melbourne's campaign to launch A Beautiful Planet, astronaut Marsha Ivins was interviewed 31 times in 5 days, spoke at multiple special event screenings, met with numerous school children, and more to help promote the film. Kate Piasecka, PR and Brand Manager at IMAX Melbourne, shares how their comprehensive, GSCA award-winning campaign leveraged one of the film's stars for a total audience reach in excess of 3.4 million people, resulting in multiple sold-out event screenings and box office returns 15 percent above their goal.

Kate will also be presenting marketing campaigns at the Giant Screen 101 session on September 20 as part of the 2018 GSCA International Conference and Trade Show.
