March 7, 2018—BBC Earth, OceanX Media and Giant Screen Films are pleased to announce that Oceans: Our Blue Planet will be narrated by Academy Award winning actress Kate Winslet. Famous for her dozens of iconic and memorable performances throughout her career, she is a seven-time Oscar nominee and recipient of numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award, Grammy Award, three BAFTAs, four Golden Globes and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“We are thrilled that Kate came on board for this film. She was a natural fit, with her previous involvement in natural history documentaries,” said Neil Nightingale, Creative Director for BBC Earth. “She adds a genuinely warm and recognizable voice to this very special—and timely—film.”

Oceans: Our Blue Planet takes audiences on a global odyssey into the largest and least explored habitat on earth. From the coastal shallows to deeper, more mysterious worlds, Oceans uncovers spectacular stories of life and survival beneath the waves. The film is supported by Microsoft, providing educational supplements and scholastic tools tailored to the conservation message and science in the documentary.

“I had the good fortune of catching a sneak peek of Oceans: Our Blue Planet last week during the BBC’s dome mastering session—utilizing MSI’s Laser CineDome system—and the film looks and sounds amazing,” said Gil Perez, Director of Film and Guest Operations, Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago. “BBC has really raised the bar with this film. I’ve said it before and will say it again… Oceans is possibly the best ocean film yet in the giant screen medium. I feel even more strongly about saying this having now seen it on our dome. It looks stunning. And Kate Winslet’s narration is outstanding as well.”
