The MPEG team is currently seeking a dynamic, motivated Theater Sales Manager to join our team. This exceptional opportunity for a passionate, detail-oriented professional to lead group and event sales for the new giant-screen theater at Utah’s Antelope Island State Park, outside Salt Lake City, which is slated to open in Q2, 2026. This role also includes collaboration with MPEG’s broader marketing and distribution team through ongoing consultation and project support.
The MPEG Theater Sales Manager’s principal activities and job results are as follows:
- Sales and Marketing Plan: development of annual sales and marketing plans which will identify goals in each category (i.e. group attendance and revenue, private screenings and facility rentals, theater memberships, bulk tickets, sponsorships, gift certificates, etc.) and how the objectives will be reached.
- Group Sales: to meet or exceed targeted attendance and revenue objectives for this market segment (which includes corporate, association, tourism, education, hospitality and religious groups) through direct sales solicitation and group presentations.
- Private screenings/facility rentals (PSFR): to meet or exceed targeted revenue objectives for this market segment through direct sales solicitation, campaigns and presentations. Other responsibilities include the coordination of all details related to these events, onsite supervision of guest functions and follow-up to ascertain client satisfaction.
- Sponsorship Development: in conjunction with MPEG, develop sponsorships to ticket-backs, film presentations and other in-theater activity. Develop prospective client lists and provide presentations to potential sponsors.
- Sales Reporting and administration: complete weekly sales calls planners and sales activity report for review by MPEG management. Complete all PSFR-related administration including special requests, check processing, and invoicing.
- Marketing Collateral: in collaboration with MPEG and Utah DNR staff, develop all group and PSFR-related collateral materials including brochures, presentations, email and/or direct-mail campaign components, educator flyers/packages, social media posts, etc.
- Event Management: working hand-in-hand with Utah DNR staff, organize and manage all special events aimed at developing specific market segments to support the theater’s sales efforts, e.g. special screenings for educators, tour operators, hospitality workers, corporate event planners, etc. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
- Community Engagement: enhance the positive image and awareness of the theater by acting as a representative at community events. Participate in sales and hospitality-related associations such as the local Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Tourism Bureau, Sales and Marketing Executives groups, social and/or service groups like Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.
- Market Research: in conjunction with MPEG staff, the sales manager will be responsible for developing and understanding the results of in-theater surveys (i.e. attitude/awareness/satisfaction etc) as they pertain to developing materials targeted to future theater visitors.
- Collaboration and Support: attend MPEG and/or Utah DNR meetings and/or work on special projects as they arise, and as directed by MPEG. Some travel, evenings and weekends are to be expected.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in business, marketing, or a related field
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in sales management in entertainment, retail, amusement or hospitality sectors.
- Working knowledge of the standard MS Office suite is essential.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills – comfortable with public speaking and written business correspondence.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, marketing, and interpersonal skills.
- A self-starter who thrives both independently and in a collaborative environment.
