Congratulations to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum (SSTM) on hosting two successful events in collaboration with the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA)
During the Shanghai Science Communication Forum, GSCA Vice Chair Patty Collins and GSCA Leadership Committee Co-Chair Heather Farnworth shared their expertise on the importance of high-quality filmmaking and strategic film programming, and how both can support sustainability and long-term success for science centres and museums. They also highlighted the power of impactful storytelling through film to elevate the visitor experience and support institutional goals.
The SSTM Science Film Expo kicked off on Sunday, May 24, with Mission Partner’s new release, Running Wild. The opening included remarks from GSCA Executive Director Tammy Barrett and GSCA Leadership Committee Co-Chair Mike Lutz on future opportunities for collaboration, as well as industry technology and filmmaking investments in China. The Film Expo also featured eight additional giant screen films from GSCA members, which will continue to be showcased at SSTM during the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) this month.
These events also marked an important industry milestone: the world’s first flat LED DCI-compliant giant screen installation from CINITY, now operating at SSTM. Congratulations to CINITY on this impressive achievement and thank you for the extensive tour of your headquarters in Beijing.
GSCA is grateful to SSTM and CINITY for their partnership, hospitality, and continued commitment to advancing the giant screen industry.
