February 18, 2016—D3D Cinema is pleased to announce the upgrade of The Henry Ford museum’s giant screen theater to state-of-the-art digital technology. Located in Dearborn, Michigan, the new theater will be rebranded as The Henry Ford Giant Screen Experience in April 2016.

D3D has designed and will undertake a full upgrade of The Henry Ford’s cinema technology, replacing the 15/70 3D projection system with dual Christie 4K digital projectors, MasterImage 3D, a QSC 5.1 audio system and a new screen from MDI. The system will feature the first museum-based ultra-high resolution 4K projection system in the greater Detroit area, illuminating the Henry Ford’s giant screen with vibrant images of unparalleled sharpness and clarity.

“We are looking forward to enhancing our guest experience with the all-new 4K digital projection system from D3D when the new Giant Screen Experience opens at The Henry Ford this spring,” said Patricia E. Mooradian, president of The Henry Ford. “This system allows us to expand the type of innovative programming and mission-fit films we offer to our more than 1.7 million visitors.”

After a rigorous evaluation of available technologies and providers, D3D was selected by the Henry Ford to design, integrate and support the new system, part of a major project which includes a complete renovation of the giant screen auditorium. “The Henry Ford is one of the world’s truly great museums and has always been a major player in the giant screen market. We’re extremely proud to add this great institution to the growing list of museum-based venues who have partnered with D3D to make the leap to next-generation theater technology,” said Derek Threinen, Vice President of Distribution and Business Development for D3D. “Upgrading to a state-of-the-art cinema system will allow this landmark destination to take advantage of the vastly improved quality and versatility of digital exhibition, while ensuring a dramatic improvement in operational costs. More importantly for their visitors, the new digital theater system features the most stunning and lifelike cinematic experience ever, which will drive curiosity in new ideas while immersing viewers in amazing experiences and places like never before.”
