Sponsorship Includes Hosting Opening Reception and Providing Technical Services for Screenings at Scotiabank IMAX Theatre

August 13, 2014—The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce that IMAX Corporation is a premier-level sponsor of the GSCA 2014 International Conference and Trade Show, which is being held September 20-23, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The GSCA conference is the largest gathering of educational giant screen and immersive cinema professionals.

IMAX Corporation’s generous support as a premier sponsor includes hosting the conference’s opening reception on September 20 at the Ontario Science Centre. IMAX also is providing the assistance of its Technical Services and IMAX Post/DKP teams for screenings at the Scotiabank IMAX Theatre. In addition to administrative and organizational services for the IMAX digital screenings, IMAX Post/DKP’s services allow producers' work to be screened with the benefits of the proprietary digital IMAX image enhancement engine.

During the conference’s IMAX-sponsored opening reception at Ontario Science Centre, GSCA will announce the winners of its Achievement Awards, which include honors for filmmaking, marketing, and lifelong learning. The evening will conclude with a rare special screening in the Ontario Science Centre Omnimax Theatre of the 1985 Ron Fricke film Chronos, inducted into the IMAX Hall of Fame by a vote of IMAX theatres in 2013.

“We are thrilled to have IMAX Corporation as a premier sponsor of this year’s conference,” said GSCA Executive Director Tammy Seldon. “IMAX’s longtime partnership has been of invaluable service to the GSCA and the industry. Their generous contributions and continued support services to the GSCA will help ensure another successful giant screen industry event.”

“We at IMAX are extremely happy to support GSCA and participate in this most important giant screen industry event,” says Mike Lutz, IMAX Vice President Institutional Sales and Client Services. “We are making our largest investments ever in film production and technology designed exclusively for giant screens. We will have our top experts on hand from Production, Post-Production, Brand Marketing, Distribution, Theatre Operations, System Design & Engineering, Theatre Development, Systems Installation, Technical Services, Client Services, and Events.”

The GSCA 2014 International Conference is the industry’s leading event, including presentations of new films, films in production, and projects in development; professional development sessions addressing exhibition, marketing, and filmmaking; a technical session on the latest developments in laser projection, cinematography, and 3D capture; and the giant screen industry’s only trade show.
