May 2, 2018—IMAX Melbourne celebrates its 20th anniversary on May 22. The theater will re-release MacGillivray Freeman’s groundbreaking 1998 documentary film Everest on IMAX 15/70 film on May 22 to celebrate 20 years of immersive giant screen movies.
“We’re so very proud—for 20 years—to have been able to offer Melburnians the world-leading standard in on-screen image and immersive sound that is inherent in the IMAX brand. From the original mechanical large format 15 perforation 70mm film system (still in operation) through to the cutting-edge, next-generation IMAX laser digital projection system (the first Laser system installed in Australia), IMAX provides an unrivaled premium cinema experience. We’d like to sincerely thank all of our passionate fans and loyal customers for making IMAX Melbourne the cinema destination of choice,” says IMAX Melbourne General Manager Richard Morrison.
