September 21, 2015—IMAX and White River State Park have announced that the IMAX® theatre at the Indiana State Museum will install IMAX’s cutting-edge digital projection system to replace its current IMAX film system. The technology will allow the iconic state museum to present a wide array of IMAX digital content previously unavailable.
“This conversion will have many benefits for our future operations,” said Bob Whitt, Executive Director at White River State Park. “The IMAX theatre set the table for our major park development and we see a great opportunity to increase theatre revenues through new programming flexibility while simultaneously reducing operational costs.”
“IMAX’s digital projection technology will create new revenue streams for the White River State Park, when combined with our expanded releases from the IMAX Original Film Fund and the large number of Hollywood IMAX® DMR releases,” said Larry O’Reilly, IMAX President of Worldwide Sales. “We have enjoyed our long-time association with White River State Park and we’re delighted to continue the tradition of delivering the most immersive cinematic experience to Indiana State Museum guests.”
The IMAX theatre at the Indiana State Museum opened in 1996 and was host to the 2009 Giant Screen Cinema Association Conference and Trade Show. The theatre will temporarily close for the digital conversion in early 2016.
