He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Merlene B. Blank IMAX Dome Theater in Des Moines Closed Until Further Notice After Significant Storm Damage

July 30, 2018—The Blank IMAX Dome Theater at the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines may be closed for months after facing storm damage twice within a couple weeks. The IMAX theater had already faced flooding June 25 before being hit again during a record-breaking storm in early July which left homes flooded throughout the Des Moines area. Tech Museum of Innovation Will Be First Dome Theater to Use IMAX 4K Laser Projection System

July 30, 2018—The 280-seat Tech Museum of Innovation IMAX Theater in downtown San Jose, California, has been closed since the beginning of July to undergo a $2.7 million, four-month renovation that will replace its 70mm film projector with a state-of-the-art IMAX 4k laser projection system. June 13, 2018—We are sad to share that Mike Sullivan, a true giant and pioneer in the industry, passed away on June 5. Sullivan orchestrated the opening of the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater in San Diego, the first museum-operated Omnimax (IMAX Dome) theater; co-produced the earliest films; and was instrumental in bringing theaters to museums around the world. June 12, 2019—The Trolley IMAX Experience received a tremendous reception at its world premiere from a capacity audience at Toronto’s Ontario Place Cinesphere IMAX.
