August 30, 2017—D3D Cinema (D3D) is pleased to announce that it is expanding staff and doubling its Philadelphia-area office footprint in preparation for and response to upcoming Laser CineDome projection upgrades, Cinéfolio’s museum network growth, expansion of D3D Post Services and the accelerating deployment of the new Birdly VR product.


New hires include the addition of Richard Garbett in the role of Senior Applications Engineer, bringing over 25 years of cinema and display technology engineering experience to D3D.  Richard spent seven years with MasterImage 3D as Director of Engineering providing “real-world cinema” insight to product R&D and managing the global customer support network for installation, technical documentation, product training and issue resolution. Prior to MasterImage, Richard spent over two decades with NEC Corporation.  At D3D, his role will include oversight of technical support services to all of D3D’s clients whilst supporting new installation activity and laser dome integrations.


Scott Fauteux has been promoted to Vice President, Client Services. Scott will oversee D3D’s theater service and support division as well D3D Post Services, a rapidly expanding business that specializes in distribution fulfillment and post-production services for major producers and distributors in the museum cinema industry. 


Additionally, Tom Rooney, formerly the Director of Marketing and Distribution Fulfillment at Giant Screen Films (D3D’s sister company), has been promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing, Birdly VR. Tom will spearhead the strategic growth of Birdly into the museum and attraction segments, including sales, event rentals, marketing and strategic partnerships.


Additional project management, administration and post-production roles are being filled. In order to accommodate the growth of personnel and the expanding scope of D3D’s service and technology offerings, the Philadelphia-area offices have doubled in size to include three new post-production bays, a Laser CineDome mastering suite, an enlarged fabrication/R&D workshop, a 4K 3D screening room, and a Birdly showroom. A west coast office opened in Los Angeles earlier this summer.
