FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shanghai Science and Technology Museum in Association with the Giant Screen Cinema Association to Present World’s First Giant Screen Film Industry Event Exhibited on a Flat LED Screen
The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) announces it will collaborate with Shanghai Science and Technology Museum (SSTM), to present the 2026 Science Festival Forum May 23 and SSTM Film Expo event May 24 – June 2.
SSTM recently completed a RMB 1 billion ($150 million USD) renovation, including installation of a 24m x 18m (78’ x 60’) CINITY 3D LED direct-view giant screen — one of the largest museum-scale LED installations in the world.
As part of the collaboration, up to ten GSCA member films will be selected for presentation during the Expo. Selected titles will be showcased to Chinese science museum directors, curators, and industry leaders attending the event.
“This event allows us to discuss the growing global influence of the giant screen industry with SSTM and other science museum leaders in China and we are excited to share our vision” said Tammy Barrett, Executive Director of GSCA. “As new immersive display technologies arrive, our members will lead the way to increasingly inspirational experiences.”
“We are eager to share the new investment we have made to our museum” said Minjing Ni, Curator of SSTM. “Films from the GSCA membership will showcase today’s best science stories and the new experiences made possible by our new CINITY 3D system.”
The selected films will also be featured during the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) event June 12 – 21.
About the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA), CINITY, and Shanghai Science and Technology Museum (SSTM)
The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is the global leadership organization for the giant screen film industry and the only trade body representing the complete ecosystem of immersive large-format cinema. Its membership spans museums, science centers, specialty theaters, distributors, producers, and technology developers across international markets.
As an independent, platform-neutral association, GSCA advances industry standards, supports innovation across all premium large-format systems, and facilitates global collaboration that strengthens the long-term sustainability of the giant screen sector.
CINITY is a next-generation large-format cinema technology platform designed to deliver high-performance presentation through high brightness, high frame rate, high dynamic range, immersive 3D capability, and advanced sound integration. Its portfolio includes both premium projection systems and museum-scale LED direct-view giant screen installations, representing a significant evolution in exhibition technology.
Shanghai Science and Technology Museum (SSTM) is one of China’s leading science museums and a major center for public science engagement. Following a RMB 1 billion renovation, SSTM introduced a 23.68m x 18m CINITY 3D LED giant screen as part of its commitment to advancing immersive educational experiences. The museum serves as a national and international platform for science communication and hosts industry events connected to the Shanghai International Film Festival.
Together, GSCA, CINITY, and SSTM reflect the convergence of global industry leadership, technological advancement, and institutional vision — shaping the next era of giant screen cinema on an international stage.
