Antarctica Wins Best Cinematography at the Jackson Wild Media Awards

This year’s Jackson Wild award submissions included over 750 category entries from nearly 30 different countries. Finalists were selected by more than 150 international judges who together screened over 3,000 hours of media. A distinguished panel of final judges from around the globe selected the 2021 Jackson Wild Media Award Winners directly prior to the Summit. Winners were announced during the Jackson Wild Media Awards Ceremony on Sept. 30, 2021. Antarctica is produced by BBC Earth and distributed by SK Films. Cinema Association (GSCA) will hold its next annual Film Expo in Los
Angeles on March 8-9, 2022, at the AMC CityWalk IMAX Theatre and
Universal City Hilton. The 2022 Film Expo will be the first in-person
event hosted by GSCA since March 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic,
GSCA organized the successful Virtual Conference in September 2020, the
Virtual Film Expo in April 2021, and is currently at work on the Virtual
Conference coming up in September 2021. The Film Expo will feature
screenings of new films, films in production, projects in development,
and a technical session highlighting the latest giant screen technology.
Other programming is still being determined and will be announced as it
is confirmed. Registration and film submissions will open in December
2021. GSCA will monitor COVID protocols and plan the event accordingly.

The major part of the renovation was the replacement of the 23-metre-diameter dome screen with a new one comprising 428 aluminum panels that are less than 1mm thick. The panels utilize the latest NanoSeam technology and offer a seamless viewing experience. The screen, together with the six new Christie Mirage 304 projectors, produce sharper and more colorful images. Other facilities of the Space Theatre, including the newly installed Sky-Skan DigitalSky–Dark Matter projection system, audio and sound equipment, the control and production studios have all been upgraded with cutting-edge technologies to provide audiences with exhilarating audiovisual experiences.
