As interest in direct view LED continues to grow across the giant screen community, GSCA is launching a new webinar series to help theater operators, distributors, and producers better understand the opportunities, challenges, and real-world implications of this rapidly evolving technology. Moderated by Paul Fraser of Blaze Cineworks, the series builds on the strong interest generated by last September’s conference session in Austin and takes a deeper look at how LED is being applied in both flat and dome environments. Each webinar will include a brief introduction to essential LED concepts and terminology, followed by case studies, expert interviews, and audience discussion.
The second webinar will turn to LED domes and the unique production and presentation issues they introduce. The session will profile the Cosm LED-equipped Dorrance Dome at Arizona Science Center in Phoenix and include interviews with Alec Warren, Director of Dorrance Dome Experiences; post-production specialist Nate Cohen, who reformatted giant screen films for exhibition in the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History’s Cosm LED-equipped Omni Theater; and fulldome director Robin Sip of Mirage3D, who will discuss best practices for creating live-action content designed for LED domes. As with the first webinar, the program will begin with a short review of essential LED terms and concepts and conclude with audience Q&A.
