winner of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Thea Award for
Outstanding Achievement—Museum Experience, Limited Budget. Masters
Digital was responsible for the audio design and installation. The TEA 28th Annual Thea Awards were held April 23, 2022, during the TEA Summit at Disneyland in California.
May 12, 2022—Summer Game Fest 2022 has secured a distribution deal with IMAX to stream the event live from Los Angeles in select IMAX theaters on June 9. "We are thrilled to be a part of these rapidly growing events," said Megan Colligan, president of IIMAX Entertainment and EVP of IMAX Corp. March 17, 2022—IMAX has started to develop a new fleet of cameras, hoping to meet and built growing demand for its technology among filmmakers. In cooperation with Kodak, Panavision and FotoKem, IMAX will make and deploy at least four new, state-of-the-art film cameras over the next two years—growing its existing group of film cameras by 50%—with plans to put the first new device into use by late 2023.

March 4, 2022—The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to
announce that the Association’s 2022 International Conference will be
hosted by the Tennessee Aquarium and IMAX 3D Theater in Chattanooga,
Tennessee, on September 28–30, with the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel
Chattanooga Downtown serving as the official conference hotel. On
October 1, the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama, will host
GSCA’s Dome Day, with screenings in the IMAX Laser Dome Theater.

February 23, 2022—IMAX closed out the 4th quarter of 2021 with $277 million in grosses–its best 4th quarter tally since 2017. Global box office for the full year in 2021 was $638 million, up 146% over 2020.
February 17, 2022—D3D Cinema is proud to announce that the Denver Museum
of Nature & Science will upgrade and replace their existing IMAX
Digital system with a state-of-the-art laser-illuminated 4K 3D
projection system designed and integrated by D3D. The new projection and
sound systems will serve as the cornerstone in a generational upgrade
of the giant-screen theater in Phipps Auditorium, which will also
include a renovation of the seating and other public areas of the
theater. D3D will be integrating Barco's latest high-efficiency 40,000-lumen
laser projectors with a premium QSC surround-sound system, MDI
high-gain projection screen, a capable Crestron-based
alternative-content suite and an enhanced accessibility package. The
newly upgraded theater is scheduled to open to the public in Fall 2022.
