GSCA is pleased to introduce Direct View LED 101: What It Means for Giant Screens
A new webinar series moderated by Paul Fraser of Blaze Cineworks

As interest in direct view LED continues to grow across the giant screen community, this series is designed to help theater operators, distributors, and producers better understand the opportunities, challenges, and content implications of this evolving technology. Building on the strong interest generated by last September’s conference session in Austin, the series takes a closer look at both LED flat displays and LED domes, and the content for each, through practical case studies and expert interviews.
Each webinar will begin with a brief introduction to LED and a review of essential terminology and concepts, followed by featured speakers and audience discussion.
Webinar 1: LED Flat Displays and the Content for Them
Thursday, April 9, at 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm ET via Zoom
The first webinar will focus on LED flat displays and the content workflows needed to support them. The session will spotlight the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum’s new CINITY LED-equipped theater and feature conversations with museum leaders, CINITY CEO Demond Bian, and Tony Maher of Onsight, whose company delivered giant screen film content for the venue. Attendees will gain insight into the technical and creative considerations involved in presenting giant screen content on LED flat displays, including formatting, mastering, image quality, and exhibition considerations.
Webinar 2: LED Domes and the Content for Them
Tuesday, April 14, at 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm ET via Zoom
The second webinar will focus on LED domes and the unique production and presentation issues they introduce. The session will profile the Cosm LED-equipped Dorrance Dome at Arizona Science Center in Phoenix and include interviews with Alec Warren, Director of Dorrance Dome Experiences; Nate Cohen, who reformatted giant screen films for exhibition in the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History’s Cosm LED-equipped Omni Theater; and Robin Sip of Mirage3D, who will discuss best practices for creating live-action content designed for LED domes.
We hope you’ll join us for this timely new series exploring how direct view LED is reshaping giant screen exhibition and content creation.
